Meanwhile, Lelouch is reasoning that since the Emperor didn’t go to Tokyo even though he came to Area 11, the Emperor’s goal is something else: the ruins of Kaminejima. In connection with this, Anya has another painful reaction, but this time, her eyes glow red, and she pays a visit to C.C. on the Ikaruga afterwards. Anya comments on how it’s been a long time since they’ve met directly, and when C.C. doesn’t recognize her, Anya enters the World of C. There, she finds C.C.’s real personality just sitting around, and—so that C.C. will recognize her—Anya transforms herself into Marianne. C.C. thinks that Marianne is so worried about Lelouch that she came here, but Marianne denies it and wonders if C.C. felt she was such an ideal mother. Marianne’s reason for being here is because she wanted to know if C.C. was still their ally, and she questions why C.C. sealed off her own Code since Charles would have been able to grant her wish to die. After C.C. admits that she doesn’t know, Marianne suggests that they have to find out, and she reveals that she’s always messing with C.C. as gratitude for C.C. giving her Geass. In response, C.C. notes that Marianne didn’t fulfill their contract, and Marianne then proposes going off somewhere together.

When Sheryl had come to see Alto on the school rooftop, he had felt that she wanted to sing again and had caught her when she felt faint. With Sheryl in his arms, Alto had asserted that she wouldn’t abandon singing and had reminded her of how many people her songs reached, but their conversation is cut short when Ranka suddenly appears. Ranka assumes that she’s interrupting something and tries to run off, however she trips and falls flat on her face. The pain Ranka feels makes her want to die, and that causes a reaction in the Vajra inside the Macross Frontier. One of their first victims is the sniper who was trying to kill Howard Glass, and they soon start wreaking havoc all over the colony ship. Howard manages to get away safely, and one of the first things he does is to call Leon to tell him about the problem. This surprises Leon because he expected Howard to be dead already, and while Leon isn’t paying attention, Ozma and Cathy escape from his office.

Despite the FLEIJA detonation in Tokyo that has caused over 10 million deaths and 25 million total casualties, the Emperor of Britannia decides to leave things entirely to Schneizel. On the other side of the conflict, Diethard tries to stop Cornelia from escaping the Ikaruga, but before he can recapture her, a special Britannian diplomatic envoy arrives carrying Schneizel himself. Lelouch is at this moment desperately trying to get his men to find Nunnally, but Toudou ignores him and orders a retreat instead. Rolo eventually brings Lelouch back to his room on the Ikaruga and tries to comfort Lelouch by saying that Lelouch still has him. Although initially calm, Lelouch becomes enraged when he sees the heart-shaped locket on Rolo’s cell phone, and he questions why Rolo has it since he had originally intended to give it to Nunnally. He accuses Rolo of trying to be an replacement for her and goes on to admit that he both despises Rolo and has tried to kill him many times. Lelouch then kicks Rolo out, telling him not to show himself again. Meanwhile, over on the Avalon, Nina is finally realizing that she didn’t understand what kind of damage her weapon would cause. This prompts Lloyd to tell her that she has to decide whether to abandon science to protect her heart or to break her heart and sacrifice herself for science. When Nina wonders what choice Lloyd made, he claims that he was broken from the very beginning.
